A MESSAGE DELIVERED BY PASTOR JAMES M. KARTEE AT CONFERENCE NEANISKOS 2011 YOUTH SUMMER CAMP
MARK 4: 35-41( participants are to read the passage) NIV STUDY BIBLE OR ANY
CHARACTERS: JESUS & HIS DISCIPLES
SETTING: THE SEA OF GALILEE
It was in the evening at the coast of the Sea of Galilee. Jesus ordered his disciples to get a boat ready so that they could sail off to Garesenes. Garasenes was located some thirty five miles southeast of the Sea of Galilee. The place is today known as Khersa. Overwhelmed by the crowd, Jesus got into the boat and he and his disciples sailed. The Sea of Galilee was sorrounded by mountains and particularly prone to violent storm. As the crew went further, there arose a viloent storm and the boat began to be toss here and there. Water was entering into the boat as well. Before the storm began, Jesus was soundly asleep. The disciples tried to manage the situation, but they could not. So they woke him up to help them. Jesus questioned thier faith and then rebuke the storm by saying” Peace, be still”.
WHAT DO WE LEARN FROM THIS LESSON?
Life is full of unexpected situations expect stormy situations stormy situations are meant to test our faith humankind is unable to attain world peace by their own strength no might, power& wealth of any nation can can bring peace to earth storm symbolizes wars, hunger, sickness, diseases, and deaths. you cannot defeat satanic altars and shrines by your own strength. life is like sailing into an unknown sea don’t sail by your strength, lean on Christ put on the full armor of God(Eph. 6:12ff). Invite jesus into your life.

THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER: A MODEL FOR DYNAMISM IN MINISTRY
A lecture note slated to be delivered at “Conference Neaniskos 2011 Youth Summer Camp” @ Todee, Monterrado County, Liberia
By Rev. James M. Kartee
Luke 8:1-5 (An Exposition)
Ministry is about the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ in a holistic manner.
Ministry is about:
– Teaching, preaching, praying, healing, meeting the needs of people (Matt. 28:20; Acts 2:42; 2 Timothy 3:16) the church to observe the inspirational writings of the patriarchs, prophets, the teachings of Jesus Christ and that of his apostles. The Old & New Testaments are inspired, authoritative and infallible (Read “Ten Reasons Why I Believe the Bible is the Word of God by Ian R. K. Paisley)
– Obeying the mission mandate as was written in Matthew 28:19-20(take this serious. You have been mandated to serve. Do it well with humility, obedience, faith, perseverance, persistence, honesty, & commitment).
THE MISSION BORDER (BOUNDARIES)
E1- Go into your communities- start with your families, friends, & foes (FFI) in your communities.
E2- Go outside of your communities to different communities within your country (Cross boundary).
E3- If God permits go outside of your country (Cross culture)
PLANNING & PREPARATION
Pray and ask God to select the best men who are willing to serve (Acts 6- the seven deacons).
Train, empower, & release.
God can do great exploits through such men(the apostles, Stephen, Philip, Timothy, Titus)
Jesus trained his disciples for three years
Do not underestimate the ministry of training in your church(Ezra 7:10;Jn. 5:39)
YOU NEED SUPPORT
Workers (disciples of Jesus Christ were students and servants. A group of women supported the ministry of Jesus Christ (Mary Magdalene, Joana, the wife of Cuza, Susanna, etc). In Paul’s ministry, the gifts of the Philippians were very supportive. Don’t only rely on the gifts from the church; make sure you have a talent. Paul was a tent maker.
Your support to the ministry is essential
Ministry without support cannot survive
God needs your money, time, stewardship, and resources
Pay your pastors/elders; don’t let them go hungry.
THE SEED SOWING MODEL
1.) Pathway– trampled on- noting grows where people constantly walk
2.) Rocky ground– plant withered- rocks are not soil. They are hard material. Do not plant on rocks.
3.) Thorny bush– they are jealous plants. They take control of their surrounding and eliminate rivals. They hate competition.
People with such character worry about riches & pleasures of this world; they are not mature
They are not fit to be leaders
They have no place in heaven
4.) Good soil-
It contains good nutrients
It is well suited for growing plants
Plants will grow healthily and produce plentifully.
People of such hear the Word
They obey the Word
They keep it
IN THE END SUCCESS IS SURE.
